  26. What is the warranty on the Rodger Wireless Alarm?
  27. After three months use, my briefs are not as sensitive. One has stopped sensing moisture completely - although the alarm works fine. What is wrong?

1. How do I set up the Rodger alarm for my child to use?
First, plug the Receiver (wall unit) into an outlet in your child’s room and turn it ON. The green light should shine constantly and the red light should flash once when you turn it on. Then, have your child put on the sensor briefs, and clip the small transmitter box to the snaps on the waistband of the briefs.
2. How do I test the Briefs for my Rodger Wireless alarm to confirm that they sense moisture correctly?
First, take a cup of LUKEWARM water, and mix in a teaspoon of salt.  Clip the transmitter onto the sensor brief and plug the Receiver unit into an outlet and turn it on.  Pour a small amount of the saltwater mixture onto the front of the briefs (approximately 2 teaspoons).  This should cause the alarm to sound.  **Briefs become more absorbent after washing, so testing before washing for the first time may require more saltwater.

3. What type of underwear should my child wear?

The Rodger Wireless alarm comes with two pairs of sensor briefs that must be worn in order for the alarm to sense moisture.  Regular underwear/briefs are not required.
4. How do I know what size briefs to order with my child’s Rodger Alarm?
Please view the size conversion chart on our website for sizing information.  Hanes equivalency sizes are listed for easy comparison.
5. Can I purchase additional briefs with my Rodger Alarm?
Yes, additional briefs can be purchased for $19.95 each.  Some parents prefer to have an extra pair or two to reduce the frequency of laundry loads.
6. Can I use the Rodger Wireless alarm with pull-ups or Good Night products?
Using a pull-up or other disposable pant product is not recommended when wearing the Rodger alarm.  The use of a pull-up increases the chances that the Transmitter unit worn on the underwear will be flooded with urine, which may cause it to malfunction.  Secondly, it is very difficult to monitor progress, especially as your child reduces the amount he wets, when a pull-up is worn over the briefs.
7. How do I test my Rodger Wireless alarm to confirm that it is working?
First, turn on the Receiver (wall unit) and plug it into an outlet.  The green light should shine constantly and the red light should flash once when you turn it on.  Then, holding the Transmitter box, place a metal object (such as a kitchen knife) across the two snaps on the back of the transmitter box and hold until the Receiver unit begins to sound (approximately 1-2 seconds).  The Receiver sounding indicates that the alarm is working properly.  Press the reset button on the Receiver to turn the sound off
8. All of the outlets in my child’s bedroom are covered by furniture and are difficult to access.  How can I plug my Receiver in?
Many parents find that using a short power strip or extension cord makes the Receiver much more accessible for turning on and off/resetting, etc.
9. How do I improve the chances that my child will awaken when the alarm sounds?
Make sure that the volume on the Receiver is turned up to a high volume and that there are no objects or materials blocking the outlet it is plugged into.  In addition, it is important to note that most children are very sound sleepers, and will require the assistance of a parent/caregiver to wake up to the alarm.  Therefore, it is important that an adult can hear the alarm so that he/she can assist the child in waking up.
10. How long will the alarm sound after it has been activated?
The Rodger Wireless alarm will continue to sound until you or your child presses the Reset button on the Receiver wall unit.  This requires your child to get up and out of bed to turn the alarm off, rather than simply pushing a button on the shoulder and falling back to sleep.
11. How do I turn the alarm off after it starts sounding?
After the alarm is triggered by moisture, turn the sound off by pressing the reset button on the Receiver (wall unit).  This will require your child to get out of bed.
12. What battery type should I use to replace my old Rodger Wireless alarm batteries?
The Rodger Wireless alarm uses one A23 alkaline (or equivalent) battery in the TRANSMITTER unit and 2 AA alkaline batteries in the RECEIVER (if not being plugged into an outlet).  Do not use batteries in the RECEIVER if using electric power.
13. How long do the batteries last?
Battery drain is minimal in the Transmitter unit, as it only transmits when moisture is detected.  This battery, therefore, should last for several months.  If you choose to use batteries in the Receiver rather than using outlet power, these batteries will last for approximately one month.  This may vary significantly depending upon the amount of time that the Receiver is actually switched ON.  If you use batteries, do not leave the Receiver on during the day as this will quickly drain the batteries.  We recommend plugging the Receiver into a wall outlet rather than using batteries, as this will cut down on costs and maintenance.
14. Where can I find replacement batteries?
Replacement AA batteries can be found locally at any grocery store or other store that carries common batteries.  Replacement A23 alkaline batteries should also be available locally at any super store or tech-oriented store that carries batteries for cameras, calculators or computers.  Replacements can also be purchased directly from the Bedwetting Store if you have trouble finding them elsewhere.
15. How do I replace the batteries in my Rodger Wireless Alarm?
If using batteries in the Receiver unit, simply pull the battery cover off the back of the unit, and insert two new batteries, making sure to follow the polarity indicated on the battery cover.  To replace the battery in the Transmitter, use a small Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew the battery cover and pull it off.  Replace the battery, following the correct polarity, and replace the battery cover, screwing it back into place.
16. I am getting false alarms.  The Receiver is sounding even though the briefs are dry.  What can I do?

You may be getting wireless interference from another wireless device.  Try turning off your wireless internet, cordless phone or other devices one by one and see if you can identify the source of interference.  Occasionally these devices may cause false alarms with your Rodger system.  You may need to temporarily turn off your wireless internet, or source during the night in these instances. Trying a different outlet in the room may even change the amount of wireless interference. During the day, turn off the receiver unit that is plugged into the wall.
Remember that wireless interference in your own home is not a defect in the alarm, but something that you may need to accommodate for the few weeks that your child will need to use the alarm.

17. When I tried testing my alarm system, it did not sound.  What should I do?
If your Receiver unit does not sound when you place a metal object across the Transmitter connections, this may indicate a dead battery in the Transmitter Unit.  Try using another metal object such as a screwdriver to test the unit.  If the Receiver unit does not sound, try replacing the Transmitter battery and repeat the test.
18. I tested my alarm and it worked, but it did not sound when my child wet his bed.  What should I do?

There are several things that may have caused the alarm not to sound:

  1. First, check to make sure that the Receiver is turned ON and that the volume is turned up.
  2. Check to make sure that your Receiver is plugged into a working outlet (if it is a switched outlet, make sure that the switch is turned on).
  3. Make sure that the Receiver is only running on one power source – if this wall unit has batteries installed AND it is plugged into a wall outlet, it will not function properly.  Either remove the batteries or unplug the unit from the wall.
  4. Make sure that there are no other transmitting devices, such as a baby monitor, interfering with the Rodger alarm.  If other devices are in use, try changing their frequency or relocating them to prevent interference.
19. Can the Rodger Transmitter box get wet?
While the Transmitter unit will sustain moisture from general wetting, it should be kept as dry as possible, and is not designed to sustain major flooding damage.  Therefore, REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE TRANSMITTER FROM YOUR CHILD’S UNDERWEAR BEFORE LAUNDERING.
20. How do I clean my Rodger Wireless alarm and sensor?
The Rodger briefs can be machine washed and dried on a low setting.  DO NOT wring the briefs, as this will damage the sensing mechanism.  To clean the Transmitter unit, simply wipe with a damp cloth and let air dry.  DO NOT PUT THE TRANSMITTER UNIT IN THE WASHING MACHINE.
21. I accidentally put my Transmitter in the washing machine.  Can I buy just that piece?
No, the Transmitter and Receiver units are programmed as a pair and therefore can not be interchanged with other transmitters/receivers.  The serial numbers on the back of the two units must match in order for the pair to transmit properly.
22. The first time we used the Rodger Wireless alarm it worked fine, but it didn’t work when we tried to use it again.  What does this mean?
Often, this just indicates that the Receiver was turned off after the initial activation and was not turned back on before using the alarm again.  Make sure that the volume knob is turned to high volume, the green light shows constantly, and the red light flashed once when you turn on the Receiver.

23. I just started using my Rodger Wireless alarm again after storing it for several months, and now it isn’t working.  How can I fix it?

First, put new batteries in the Transmitter unit.  Then test both the Transmitter/Receiver system and the briefs (as indicated in the above instructions) to make sure that each part is working correctly.
24. Does the Rodger Wireless alarm play more than one sound?
No, the Rodger alarm has only one sound programmed into it.  You cannot choose and alternate sound.
25. My child does not wake up when his alarm goes off.  Does this mean the alarm won’t work for him?
Many children who wet the bed are such sound sleepers that they cannot initially respond to an alarm on their own.  This does not mean that they will be unsuccessful with the alarm.  It is important that if your child does not hear the alarm on her own, that you help her wake up when the alarm goes off.
26. What is the warranty on the Rodger Wireless alarm?
The Rodger Wireless alarm is covered by a manufacturer’s warranty for 6 months from the date of receipt by the original purchaser.  This warranty covers defects in manufacturing or materials, but does not apply to batteries and battery covers.  This warranty does not cover misuse or abuse of the alarm.  Warranty service is provided directly by the Bedwetting Store.
27. After three months use, my briefs are not as sensitive. One has stopped sensing moisture completely - although the alarm works fine. What is wrong?

Over time, residue may build up on the sensor contacts inside your brief and reduce the ability to quickly detect moisture or cause it to stop sounding. This may be due to your water, detergent or urine - or a combination of these factors. The same issue occurs with most other alarms, too. You simply need to soak the sensor briefs in vinegar or OxyClean solution to restore their sensitivity. Follow the steps below:

  1. Fill a bowl with approximately 3 cups of warm water
  2. Add either 1 cup of vinegar or 1/2 cup of OxyClean
  3. Place brief(s) in the solution and let sit for 1 hour
  4. Remove briefs from solution and launder and dry. Do Not Wring Dry.
  5. Test
