How it Works: Urine is made up of uric acid crystals that are difficult to remove. Many products on the market attempt to mask or cover the urine odor with another fragrance. Other products are made with alcohol or solvents. These are short-term solutions only and leave the insoluble urine salt crystals in place. These crystals cling to any surface, including smooth, hard surfaces like tile, porcelain and concrete. If you have tried to wash away urine with ordinary cleaners, you know that the odor and stains may leave for a while but soon return! Usually you will notice the return of the odors when high humidity returns to the area. Humidity or moisture reactivates the remaining uric acid crystals which are the cause of the odor.
OdorZyme gives immediate odor neutralization on contact. Microbial components combined with a super strength plant-based surfactant, digest the uric acid crystals at the source of the odor and remove tough stains. OdorZyme removes the source of the odor and stain; it does NOT cover or mask the stain! Always test any stain remover on an inconspicuous location before using.
Great as a Pre-Wash: Saturate the entire area affected by urine with OdorZyme. Depending on the size and age of the stain, allow to sit for 10 to 30 minutes before laundering. For particularly stubborn odors and stains, saturate the items and place in a plastic bag overnight. This will allow OdorZyme to break down the urine crystals to remove the odor and stain. After treating with OdorZyme, wash as you normally do to remove other soils and dirt.
How Much to Use: If you have just a small area to clean and the problem is not ongoing, the 22oz. size will probably be all you need! The important thing to remember is that the odor and stain will not leave unless OdorZyme reaches the source of the problem. Example: If you have thick carpet and padding, it is important that you saturate the entire area including the area around the visible stain. OdorZyme will need to saturate the carpet and padding all the way to the sub floor in order to reach all the uric acid crystals. No scrubbing is necessary! Just let OdorZyme do the work until dry. If the odor and stains are old, we recommend you place plastic wrap over the treated area so that OdorZyme stays wet longer giving it more time to work (at least two hours). If applying to a hard surface where it is easy to determine the problem area it will take much less product and time.
